KIA - Stinger

Brief

Awhile back the studio Dippin Sauce tasked our team with helping them produce several CGI shots for KIA’s car, the Stinger. We were responsible for the CGI and rendering while Dippin Sauce handled the post retouching and final look of all the images.

Creative Solution

We worked with the clients CAD data to prepare a photo-real 3D asset we could render into a variety of scenes. We used scanned textures and PBR surfacing techniques to shade the car. We even went so far as to add little surface imperfections in the paint and plastics. On some shots we added a driver who was photoscanned in CG.

The runway running shot was lit with a custom 360° HDR and integrated into backplates we shot on location. Other key visuals were done with 360° HDR’s that were supplied.

All renders were done using a mix of v-ray and redshift in full 32 bit float. Dippin Sauce took it the rest of the way in post. They tonemapped our renders and creatively retouched the cars with their special sauce, creating the final look in their style. Their extensive experience in automotive retouching took the renders to a high-end photographic finish!
