Blue Whale
Brief
Inconito came to us asking if we could make a mini-world inside an apple that shows the production process from growing to shipping out crates of apples. We said of course it’s possible and told them exactly how we would do it. Everyone got excited and the job was greenlit.
Creative Solution
The agency provided a rough approved sketch that got us going. We projected teh sketch into 3D space and began modeling. We used photogrammetry to scan a real apple. After some retopology we were able to spiral open the apple into different levels. Each level needed to have it’s own little universe.
On the top level we built an orchard, we needed to stay close to reality here. We used speedtree to create custom 3D apple trees that are trimmed just like the client trims their orchards. The other levels depict simplified cleaning, sorting and packing processes.
We created a field of CG grass and lit everything with early morning light. Corona was the chosen renderer for this job as it excels in this type of lighting. After some post production to refine the renders and integrate the photographed talent we delivered to a happy client.
