KIA - Stinger

Brief

Awhile back an international retouching studio came to us to ask us if we could help them up their game. They mostly retouch photographed cars and had a client that wanted a CGI test. So we were tasked with making several CGI shots for KIA’s new car, the Stinger.

Creative Solution

We worked with the clients CAD data to prepare a photo-real 3D asset we could render into a variety of scenes. We used scanned textures and PBR surfacing techniques to shade the car. We even went so far as to add little surface imperfections in the paint and plastics. On some shots we added a driver who was photoscanned in CG.

The runway running shot was lit with a custom 360° HDR and integrated into backplates we shot on location. Other key visuals were done with 360° HDR’s that were supplied.
