360° HDR & Backplates
We have closely followed image based lighting since the early 2000’s and have adapted our CGI techniques to benefit from real world lighting and reflectance information.
Over the years we cut our teeth shooting 360° HDR’s & matched backplates in remote locations: mountain tops, sandy dunes, on airport runways…
We have also developed an on-set rapid HDR acquisition workflow that allows us to go on-site with product CAD or custom 3D models and light them with on-set light. It allows for on-set near realtime previs of 3D assets integrated into the photography. This allows art directors, and clients to better understand the CGI image making process while making better on-set decisions. Using this technique, photographers can adjust important details right then and there with quick feedback before it’s too late.
Our 360° HDR’s are also a great way to bring real world imperfections into the CGI realm for that extra boost of believability.
